Urn lids and pouches are manufactured in social institutions
# With VIL ♥ from Zurich
Farvel represents a harmonious connection of sustainable thinking, social responsibility, and individual design.
The wooden lid of the urn is produced at the social institution Stiftung St. Jakob, and the cloth bag at the institution Stiftung Heimstätten WIL.
Every product is made from renewable raw materials. Farvel urns are as unique as the people they honor. They combine modern style with deep respect for nature. With Farvel, we focus on aesthetically pleasing design and sustainable, biodegradable materials to bring a new lightness to farewell culture. Our urns combine tradition and innovation, creating space for an individual farewell that touches and does justice to both the deceased and the bereaved. For a conscious, personal farewell that reflects the uniqueness of every life.
Farvel urns combine contemporary aesthetics and individual character. Made from European, biodegradable wood fibers (FSC-certified), organic binders, supplemented with cork, they offer diverse possibilities: they can be placed at home as a remembrance object or buried in the earth.
Thanks to 3D printing, designs are created that are both durable and sustainable. This is how we combine innovative forms of farewell with tradition.

Farvel Urns
Saying goodbye is a difficult topic. Especially when it comes to the final farewell of a loved one. Farvel, a young Swiss label, dares to rethink this moment – with individually designed urns, sustainable materials, and a design approach that conveys hope and lightness. Behind Farvel are Sebastian Kuhn-Prohic and Katharina Hogg-Erdrich, who come from the marketing world and are now breaking into an industry that has previously been primarily traditional and reserved. In conversation with Sebastian, we learn how Farvel transforms farewell and remembrance into something that touches, inspires, and celebrates in a special way.
What does the name Farvel stand for?
Sebastian and Katharina wanted a name that related to saying goodbye, but not too directly, not too heavy. Something that felt logical when you heard it. So they went from Farewell to Farvel. That means goodbye in Danish and Norwegian. It leaves everything open: Is it forever, or just for a while? It's actually a loving take care.

Opening of the Farvel Urns
The opening of the Farvel urns is at the top. The lid, optionally made of walnut or oak wood, can be opened and closed using a twist lock.
A standard ash capsule does not fit into the Farvel urns. The ashes are placed in an ash bag or directly into the urn and then laid in the urn. The supplied bag can be used as an ash bag.
# Individual Memories
Personalize
Urns from Farvel can be personalized in various ways. These include the choice of wood or an engraving on the lid. Additionally, the included jute bag can be used as an ash bag and creatively designed. Mourning and farewell stationery is another option to make the urn completely individual and interactive for your farewell.

Who is behind the Farvel urns?
The young Swiss urn label was founded by Katharina and Sebastian. Together with René, who designed the Farvel urns, they brought a breath of fresh air into an otherwise rather monotonous world of urns.
